Barry Sigrist BSc MSST
Education
Barry played football for a number of professional teams and signed for Stevenage Borough in 1999. In the summer of 2001 he coached football in New England before returning to the UK to study towards a BSc Sports Science at St Mary's University College in Twickenham.
In 2004 he started a BSc Sports Therapy at Hertfordshire University and graduated with 1st class honours.
Now a Member of the Society of Sports Therapists Barry is continuing his professional development and studying towards UKSCA accreditation as well as Level 5 accreditation to the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage.
Experience
Barry has been a personal trainer since 2006 helping numerous clients reach personal or sport specific goals including weight lose, mass, flexibility, strength or power gain and rehabilitation from injury, helping athletes from football, rugby, martial arts and dancing as well as recreational athletes and sedentary people.
Barry has helped with soft tissue preparation and massage of athletes competing at 2004-2007 London Marathons, All Stars Football Tournament for Sky Television (2007) and British Milers' Club Nike Elite Meeting (2008).
Barry supported Arsenal Academy Physios in 2006/7 season and Southampton FC's medical team the year after gaining valuable experience assessing and treating injuries as well as rehabilitation and injury prevention training. He was headquarter and on-field therapist for Elite Football during the 2008 Gothia cup where his under-16 side won the Plate playing 9 games in 6 days.
In the summer of 2008 Barry joined Cheshunt FC as part of a new medical team and was promptly picked up by Borehamwood FC to become their First Team Therapist in the Ryman Premier League. He is also a sports injury consultant since graduation and a therapist in Elite Performance's Potters Bar Clinic.
